What is frwd2?+
frwd2 is a URL shortener and link management platform for creators and businesses. Paste a link and get a short one with a QR code, or create links from your own website or app through a TypeScript SDK and REST API. Links are served on frwd2.in or on your own domain, and you can change, protect and measure every one of them after it has been shared.
Who is frwd2 for?+
Two kinds of people. Creators and anyone else who shares links: paste a link, get a short one, and keep it in a free account. And businesses with a website or an app: your product creates its own short links through the SDK or API, for order tracking, invitations or campaigns, and you see the clicks on all of them. Both can use frwd2.in or their own domain.
Can I use my own domain for short links?+
Yes. Create an organization, add your domain in its settings and add the two DNS records it shows you. Once the domain is connected, the organization's links are shared as yourdomain.com/abc123, and they keep working on frwd2.in too. Use a domain or subdomain that nothing else runs on, such as go.yourbrand.com. Whether a custom domain is included depends on your plan.
Is frwd2 an alternative to Bitly and TinyURL?+
Yes. Like them, frwd2 shortens links and makes QR codes. It also lets you serve links on your own domain, create them from your own product with a TypeScript SDK and REST API, let AI agents create them through an MCP server, protect them with passwords and schedules, and see click analytics that never store a visitor's IP address.
Is frwd2 free?+
Yes. You can shorten a link without an account, and a free account keeps your links in a dashboard with QR codes and CSV or JSON export. No credit card is needed. The plans on offer and their limits are on the pricing page.
Do frwd2 links expire?+
Links created without an account expire after 3 days. Links created from an account don't expire unless you set an expiry date yourself. A link you made without an account can be kept: press Claim & track next to it, sign up or log in, and it moves into your account with the clicks it already has.
Can I change where a link or QR code points after I share it?+
Yes. The QR code contains the short link, not the destination, so you can change the destination from your account at any time without reprinting. You can also put a password on a link, set when it goes live and when it expires, pause it, or delete it.
Can I add UTM tags to a link?+
Yes. The link form in the dashboard has fields for source, medium, campaign, term and content, and adds them to the destination URL for you, so your own analytics tool can attribute the visit.
Does frwd2 show click statistics?+
Yes. From your account you can see clicks and visitors per day for each link, along with countries, referrers, devices, browsers and operating systems, over the last 7, 30 or 90 days. Organizations also get a report across all their links. frwd2 does not store visitor IP addresses.
How do AI agents create short links?+
Install the @frwd2/mcp server in Claude, Cursor or any other MCP client with an API key and your organization ID. The agent then has tools to create, update and list links and to fetch their QR codes.
Does frwd2 have an API and an SDK?+
Yes. Organizations get API keys for the REST API, and the @frwd2/sdk package wraps it for TypeScript, so your website or app can create a short link with one call. The link comes back on your own domain if the organization has connected one. Keys can be named, tracked, rotated and revoked at any time. Rotating a key gives it a new secret, and the old one can keep working for up to 7 days while you switch over.
